Site Visit
Visiting the site of your new home is rewarding and exciting time. You get to see all the elements of your home as they are assembled and you see your home become your new dwelling that your family will enjoy for years. If you helped in the design process, you see your vision come to life and see for the first time how your 3D space looks and feels. We want to make these visits as safe, productive, and unobtrusive as possible.
Safety
Personal protection is our main mission at Paradime Construction, Inc. A clean and safe work site is a top priority of each of the trade contractors. Even with safety measures in place and construction site can be a dangerous place. While on site please keep these common sense items in mind.
- Keep older children in view and younger children within reach
- Do not walk backward. Look where you are walking at all times.
- Watch for items that can cause tripping, puncture wounds, or other injury.
- Do not enter any area that is not equipped with stairs and rails.
- Stay a minimum of 6 feet from any excavation.
- Give equipment operators and drivers plenty of room. Assume they cannot see or hear you.
Timing of Visits
Paradime Construction, Inc. recommends that you visit the site after work hours or with an employee. Some trade contractors may not want to be 'watched over' while they complete their work. If for some reason you visit the site while trade contractor is present we ask that you move through their work area and not disturb his work or progress. Please also be mindful that they may have tools or material out that is dangerous to be around without safety training.
Locks and Keys
At a point during construction it becomes important to lock the home. Our exterior locks come equipped with a 'builder key' feature that allows our trade contractors to use a 'builder key' that opens all of our houses. We can provide you one of these keys for your access. After the home is complete, you will receive your permanent keys that once used in each lock our 'builder key' becomes ineffective. Please help us protect the inside of your home and lock up after a site visit.
Nothing's Happening
Expect several days during construction of your home when it appears that nothing is happening. This can occur for a number of reasons. Each trade is scheduled days or weeks in advance of the actual work. This period is referred to as 'lead time.' Time is allotted for completing each trade's work on a home. Sometimes, one trade completes its work a bit ahead of schedule. The next trade already has an assigned time slot, which usually cannot be changed on short notice.
Progress pauses while the home awaits building department inspections. This is also part of the normal sequence of the construction schedule and occurs at several points in every home. Also, throughout construction of a home, work progresses rapidly at some stages and highly visible stages are completed (such as installing large expanses of walls) and more slowly at others (such as detail work in framing in soffits and closets). If you have questions about the pace of work, please contact our office for an update.
